It’s nearly the summer time and that means the long summer break when children are free from school. Of course this also means that parents have to change there routine and that in itself can create some stress. Summer is great fun, and children love the freedom, but with that comes a lot of boredom for some kids - dealing with that boredom might mean dreaming up some activities for children that will keep them happy and busy. These don’t have to be complicated, as long as they engage the imagination and give children a way to burn off some steam.

Today, Bible lessons for children are just as important and crucial part of a young education as they always have been. Not only are Bible lessons for children important for their spiritual well-being, but they are also important as moral lessons - and today they can be delivered in so many different ways - from traditional book form, to DVDs, CDs and (my favoured medium) downloadable as an mp3 file to computer or portable player. The Disney movies that my daughter sees today are very different from the ones I saw when I was a child. I remember seeing Bambi when I was still in primary school and was troubled by what I saw for a very long time! Most children can be extra sensitive, and I don’t know that I should not have seen that movie at that age. It’s not that most children that age cannot handle such a movie, it was just that I couldn’t and i was upset for days (thought don’t tell anybody!)

There was an episode of Seinfeld once where Jerry proclaimed that he did not want to be a pirate. While the episode was funny, I can’t imagine not wanting to be a pirate. The modern day idea of a pirate is much different than what they used to be, but that is part of the fun. We all know that they were once very feared, and they did horrible things, but that doesn’t stop us from loving the idea of them today. There are modern day pirates, but they are nothing like what we see when we go out to get pirate costumes from the store.
